April Fools - Google Gnome

Google has a tradition of embracing April Fools, and in 2017 Google Store joined in the fun.

No stranger to hijinks, Rana ran a cross-department effort to launch an April Fools prank on Google Store.  She pulled together Brand Studio (an internal creative agency) and the Google Home product team to develop a prank that was on brand and showcased the Google Home product in a humorous and festive way.  A viral video and product landing page were core to the experience. 

All jokes aside, the campaign goals were to drive awareness of Google Store and the newly launched Google Home, ensuring users were delighted by the prank and stuck around to be subliminally educated about what the product can do. 

We engaged Gifted Youth (Funny or Die) to produce the hilarious video which drove 1.7M clicks to the Google Store. The campaign also drove 57K users to the real Google Home product page.
